Exeter Child Awarded £10,200 for Shop Injury
The Claimant was six years old when she visited a convenience store in Exeter, Devon, with her mother. As the girl walked down an aisle, a bottle of sparkling wine exploded, showering her with glass. She suffered lacerations to her chin and was traumatised.
The store’s insurers admitted liability and a compensation package was agreed. As the Claimant was under the age of 18 an application had to be made to the Exeter County Court for the award of £10,200 to be approved. The compensation in its entirety will be invested until the Claimant reaches the age of 18, when the funds will be released to her, together with interest.
