Swansea Child Injured in Playground Roundabout Accident
Slee Blackwell Solicitors have secured an admission of liability from the City & County of Swansea in a personal injury claim in which an 8-year old girl suffered a nasty fracture of her forearm when she fell off a roundabout in one of Swansea Council’s playgrounds.
The injury case is being handled by specialist accident claim solicitor, Mike Clarke. He says:
“The roundabout was an unusual one, consisting of a stainless metal disc set at an angle, with no railing or other means of holding on, apart from a rubberised surface coating to the disc. We often seem to cross swords with Swansea Council in relation to personal injury claims and in this particular accident case, they denied liability for the little girl’s injury. Careful inspection of council records by us showed that although the roundabout had previously been checked several times and damage noted for repair, there was no indication of when that repair had been carried out, or even whether it had been done at all. Photographs of the roundabout taken the day after the accident showed the coating was badly damaged and weathered, raising a strong argument that it had not been repaired at all since the last inspection.. Swansea Council finally admitted liability just as we were about to take court action, so now we are obtaining medical evidence about the arm fracture so we can negotiate compensation for this child’s injury.”
